Skipping the morbidness of my usual MM post in lieu of vacation pics. We had SUCH AN AMAZING time and I'm still running on awesome vacation mojo. Because my mood remains upbeat and vacation-like, I decided to go with the flow and change it up a bit. But don't fret, MM will be back with a vengeance next week!
(I know all y'all can't wait!)
For now, sit back and enjoy our pics...or hop over to another blog if you're not up to walking down memory lane with the Hallisicle's! (cuz there's quite a few pics and I wouldn't want to bore anyone!)
The resort was UNBELIEVABLE. I can't say enough good things about the Marriott Grande Vista.
What's not to like about a resort that serves these by the pool? Nothing better than lounging in a bikini (me, not John) in the 83 degree weather while sipping a fresh pina coloda!
The resort had tons of gorgeous pools surrounded by palm trees.

It even had an enormous man made lake in the center where you could rent boats or sunbathe on the sandy beach.
The room was comfortable and had everything we could possibly need to make our stay fantastic.

We didn't spend a ton of time in the room however as the parks, pools and hot tubs kept calling!
My toes had fun lying in the sun watching the many fountains. I know you can't actually see it, but my toes were smiling in this pic!
The resort also had its share of wildlife, none better than this kick ass, way cool armadillo John named Armando.
Armando happily posed for me as I chased after him. And yes, I was one of THOSE crazed tourists chasing after the lone armadillo in the middle of the resort. How couldn't I? It was a freakin' armadillo!! And how often does a Maine resident get to see a real life armadillo?
I had NO idea armadillos could SIT UP. Seriously...no idea. They just don't look like they're built to sit on their back legs. Armando scampered off after this last pose but I think we bonded before he toddled off.
(Sadly, later that day, we saw one of Armando's friends "sleeping" in the road. We chose NOT to tell him. And no, it was NOT Armando in the road as the "sleeping" dillo was miles away from the resort. Dillo is short for armadillo in case you didn't figure that out. After bonding with one, you get to call them dillos....it's a rule.)
We took a bunch of pics but most of them are of just me....or of just John. Traveling as a couple makes pics of the two of you together a little hard to come by!

John kicking back at Hollywood Studios.
(formerly known as MGM Studios)
Me people watching at Hollywood Studios. I was totally unaware John took this pic until he sent it to me 2 minutes later on my cell phone. :)
John chauffeuring me around in the Magic Kingdom on the race track. He was SOOOOOO damn excited to drive!!! (Didn't seem to matter at all to him that the car went about 6 mph. Apparently 2 grown adults weigh the car down just a bit....as evidenced by the 8 year old cruising by at a much faster speed!)
We acted like kids as we wandered through the Disney parks which surprisingly went TOTALLY unnoticed.....cuz EVERYONE was acting like kids! We posed with all kinds of different things. This was me attempting to look "innocent" (stop laughing) in a Princess dress. Oddly, they sell these dresses in sizes big enough to fit adults. And yes, we saw at least ONE woman walking around in one. I never truly considered buying it...I was just playing along with John's damsel in distress fantasy!! ;)
John couldn't resist trying on these Stitch hands. I offered to buy them for him but he wasn't interested. I thought they made him look extra adorable....and I do love me some Stitch!
Mickey and Minnie happily agreed to pose with me.
I couldn't resist posing with this Princess crown. It was quite popular as I saw TONS of women wearing it. Alas, I couldn't buy it as it didn't quite fit on my head. Either I have a ginormous melon or this little beauty is meant for kiddos.

John looked quite fetching in this Jack Sparrow hat. I had to laugh when I took this pic as there were about 5 other men having their pics taken by their significant others at the same time. Guess there's a little boy pirate inside every man!
Just me posing in yet another Princess hat...but this one had ears! It was really cute and fit me much better than the crown. I ALMOST bought it but couldn't think of one place I could wear this at home without making everyone else jealous!!!!
Not sure why we had John pose in front of this 3 Little Pigs pic. Just seemed like the right thing to do at the time!
We had to wait in line to take pics with Mr. Potato Head...in line behind a bunch of small children. We didn't care. We waited for our turn with smiles on our face.
John struck a much better pose than me. He really paid attention to the kids in front of us. Those kids were instructed by their mom (OVER AND FREAKIN' OVER), to "pose like a Super Model!" Keep in mind these kids were about 5 years old. It was a little awkward watching them "strut their stuff."
I mean I'm 39 years old and the ONLY Super Model pose I struck was for John in the PRIVACY OF OUR OWN ROOM! Of course, now I'm splashing it all over the blog world but at least I'm an adult!!!
I posed much more appropriately with Pooh and Piglet. They seemed happy to have me join them!
John willingly posed whenever I asked. Here he is looking all cool in Downtown Disney.
And again, in front of this very scary display. John was a very brave boy. He didn't even flinch when I asked him to pose.
We took a whole bunch of pics of each other at random other places throughout the week. I'm just going to include them all without captions. After all, they are pretty self explanatory....they are either me or John!

Although traveling as a couple makes getting pics of us together a little challenging, we DID manage to get a few.

This was me trying to take a pic with my cell phone held out in front of us. I know some people can do this with no problem, but it took me 6 shots to get one that didn't make us look deformed. As it is, I think my face looks distorted in this one but it was the best of the bunch.

Our waiter graciously agreed to take a pic of us as we dined at the Sci Fi Drive in @ Hollywood Studios. The pic is a little blurry but it's the only one he took!

A mostly failed attempt at taking a self photo....this time in the mirror. Didn't quite work cuz John looks angry and I have some mysterious white dot under my eye...not to mention the nuclear flash in the upper corner. But it's a memory and I like it!!
Got a few pics taken of us together while down at Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island.

All four of the above pics were taken by none other than
Michelle from Shay's Mom!
That's right...I got to meet my very first blogger in person!! And quite honestly, I could not have had a better experience. Michelle is nicer in person than I could ever have imagined. We got to hang out with her Saturday night and had an absolutely amazing time. We had dinner and drinks and just walked and talked. The time passed way too quickly but I wouldn't change a thing. It was truly an awesome experience. Thanks Michelle for making my first IRL blogger meeting one to remember! :)
Other than meeting Michelle, the highlight of the trip was most definitely the Segway tour Kim-D so kindly gifted John with for his 40th bday. Simply put, it was everything John imagined and then some! I even loved it and I definitely didn't expect to. The Segway is crazy fun to drive and not hard to master at all. We had a 45 minute training session where we learned how to maneuver safely around corners, up hills, etc. Then we had a 75 minute Segway tour of Epcot before the park opened. It was awesome! I don't think John EVER STOPPED SMILING!!
He loved every minute of it and now wants a Segway in the worst way. Not sure he'll be able to swing it at a mere $5000.00 but I guess a man can dream!!
(Before you ask...there ARE pics of me on the Segway but they are not good. Suffice it to say, and John even conformed it, white helmets do NOTHING good for me. John looked sporty and handsome yet I looked like I was wearing the helmet FOR A REASON.)
Didn't take many pics of the actual parks themselves but had to share the few we took of the castle. We stayed for the parade and the fireworks and were impressed by both. But we were blown away at how amazing the castle looks as it was illuminated throughout the evening.
It started off looking awesome as is.
Then it turned pink...
And got even pinker....
And then orange...
And finally blue.
And the fireworks were out of this world.
Nothing makes a crowd oooh and aaah like fireworks in the Magic Kingdom.
Well, nothing like fireworks AND a frozen chocolate covered banana.
Well, nothing like fireworks and a frozen chocolate covered banana AND an absolutely adorable bald headed baby staring at you as you ride the train around Disney! :)
